PPP member, Dr. Rupak Parikh, was included on WBBM-AM Radio in a segment talking about physician burnout and the Illinois doctor shortage. Dr. Parikh discusses the strict regulations for foreign medical student graduates to practice in the U.S.: “For physicians who are international medical graduates (IMGs), the current topic is — like in the state of Washington — can these IMGs practice under a licensed Illinois practicing physician? And I think that is a great first step in helping to fill this gap in medical coverage.” He also mentions that part of the reason for the doctor shortage is burnout among physicians over the last couple of years.
