In an interview published on Medium, PPP member Dr. Carmen Kavali shares that in order to improve the U.S. healthcare system, we must “focus on re-establishing and strengthening the physician-patient relationship, driving down costs and increasing transparency throughout the system.” Dr. Kavali also said we must address the problem of physician shortages by minimizing the “deep financial incentives to enter primary care,” changing the mindset that “physicians can be replaced by NPs or PAs,” allowing physicians “to focus solely on patient care,” and increasing the amount of “residency positions, so that every medical school graduate has the potential to match into residency to fully complete training.”
