Dr. Rebekah Bernard, and Dr. Carmen Kavali were featured in a piece on Stateline covering the increasing use of “doctor” titles by nurses who receive a degree similar to a Ph.D.

Dr. Bernard said: “for me, it’s worrisome when a nurse practitioner or a physician assistant is being perceived as a physician.”

Dr. Kavali said: “Truth and transparency isn’t something that should be arguable, why would more information for a patient ever be bad? If it takes a few extra words to clarify what your licensure is, how is that harming the patient?”
